Applying for Scholarships
There are many sources of scholarships, from local civic groups and high school
organizations to large national foundations. For detailed information about
scholarships, please visit our Scholarships section.
High school students should begin searching for scholarships during the fall of
their senior year. UT Austin’s ApplyTexas Entering
Freshman Scholarship Application has a December 1 deadline each year. It is
the application used by the Office of Student Financial Services for the majority
of freshman scholarship awards. The application is also used by most, but not all,
academic departments here at UT Austin. Please also contact the college or department you
will be entering to obtain any information regarding additional applications,
requirements or deadlines.
Your high school counselor can be a wonderful and underutilized resource in
helping you locate local scholarships. You should also search in libraries
and book stores and on the Intranet for private scholarships for which you
may be eligible. Please visit the Private Scholarship
Search Engines page for a list of a few of the many search tools available.
Students who are currently attending UT Austin or those who will be transferring
during the upcoming academic year can apply for many University scholarships by
using our on-line Continuing &
Transfer Scholarship Application. This application is typically available
in November and is due April 1st. As mentioned above, not all academic departments use
the OSFS application to award scholarships, so be sure to contact yours.
