Applying for Scholarships
There are many sources of scholarships, from local civic groups and high school
organizations to large national foundations. For detailed information about
scholarships, please visit our Scholarships section.
Entering Freshman Students
High school students should begin searching for scholarships during the Fall of
their senior year. The ApplyTexas Application
contains a Scholarship Section for entering freshman students to apply for scholarships.
The ApplyTexas Application for UT Austin has a December 1 priority deadline for students
applying for scholarships. For more information please visit Applying
for Entering Freshmen Scholarships. Don't forget to contact your prospective
college or
department to obtain scholarship information regarding additional applications,
requirements or deadlines.
Your high school counselor can be a wonderful and underutilized resource in
helping you locate local scholarships. You should also search in libraries
and book stores and on the Internet for private scholarships for which you
may be eligible. Please visit the Private Scholarship
Search Engines page for a list of a few of the many search tools available.
Continuing & Transfer Students
Students who are currently attending UT Austin or those who will be transferring
during the upcoming academic year can apply for many University scholarships by
using our online Continuing &
Transfer Scholarship Application. This application is typically available
in November and is due April 1. As mentioned above, not all academic departments use
the OSFS application to award scholarships, so be sure to contact yours.
