Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note
The first time you borrow a Stafford loan at UT Austin
(or if you change lenders while you are here), you are required to sign a (new) Master
Promissory Note (MPN). The MPN covers more than one loan or loan period and is valid
for up to 10 years, provided that you keep the same lender.
After completing the E-FAN, CASH will display, depending on your lender, either a
link to your lender's web site so you can complete an online promissory note, or a
message telling you that you are being sent a promissory note by mail. If you receive
your Stafford MPN in the mail, simply complete it, sign it and and mail it back to
your lender for processing.
To complete the Stafford MPN, you'll need to provide some general information about
yourself, along with the names, addresses and contact information for two references.
To request a copy of an unsigned promissory note for your records, please contact the
Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TG) at 1-800-845-6267.
