Direct Parent PLUS Loan Request & Master Promissory Note
The following information is for families who have already accepted a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan
through The University of Texas at Austin's Financial Aid Notification (FAN).
The Parent PLUS Request and Master Promissory Note (MPN) is completed online at the
Federal Student Aid's StudentLoans.gov web site.
IMPORTANT!
The parent borrower will need to sign in using their social
security number, first two characters of their last name, their date of birth, and
their FAFSA pin.
- The parent borrower will need to select "Start PLUS application process" and then select "Parent PLUS" to request their Parent PLUS loan.
- After they have completed the PLUS application, the parent borrower will be prompted to submit the Parent PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN), if necessary.
Information Required to Complete PLUS Request & MPN
- Parent borrower’s Social Security Number, date of birth, contact information, employer information, and their FAFSA pin.
- Student’s SSN, date of birth and contact information.
- Name and contact information for two references.
>PARENT BORROWER: Go to StudentLoans.gov
to complete the Parent PLUS Request & MPN.
The MPN is valid for up to 10 years as long as the student and parent borrower do not
change. Note: Even though the MPN is valid for 10 years, the student and parent borrower
must still apply each year (and undergo a credit check) for any subsequent Parent PLUS loans.
