TEXAS Grant
The TEXAS Grant is conditional. Awarded students
must submit an official final high school transcript
indicating completion of the recommended or distinguished achievement curriculum
to UT Admissions before the award can be paid. If
awarded students do not complete the specified curriculum, the award must be rescinded.
If you were awarded your first TEXAS grant before September 1, 2005, the grant
is renewable for up to 150 hours, 6 years or until the recipient earns a degree,
whichever comes first. To be eligible for renewal, students must re-apply for financial
aid through the FAFSA and have financial need. Also, students must be enrolled for
3/4 time, must complete at least 75% of the hours attempted each year, must maintain
a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and not be convicted of a felony or offense under Chapter 481,
Health and Safety Code.
If you were awarded your first TEXAS grant after September 1, 2005, the grant
is renewable for up to 150 hours, 5 years or until you earn a degree, whichever comes
first. To be eligible for renewal, students must re-apply for financial aid through
the FAFSA and have financial need. By the end of your first year in the program,
you must complete 75% of the hours you attempted each semester with a 2.0 cumulative
GPA. As of the end of your second year in the program and every year after, you must
have completed at least 24 semester credit hours each year with a 2.5 cumulative grade
point average (GPA) and must have completed 75 percent of the hours you attempted.
Funding for the TEXAS Grant is contingent on the State of Texas Legislature to
provide adequate resources. If funding for all awards is insufficient, some will
be rescinded.
