Under certain circumstances, borrowers can have their educational loans forgiven. The Perkins loan program offers the most forgiveness plans, but Stafford loans can also sometimes be forgiven. If you plan to become a public school teacher, a public health worker, a Peace Corps volunteer, or a child care provider, you may want to look into these programs. Loans can also sometimes be forgiven in the event that the borrower becomes disabled.
