Response to Hurricane Ike
The Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) is committed to helping students who
were affected by Hurricane Ike and its aftermath. OSFS understands that various economic
hardships may have developed as a result of this natural disaster. Our financial aid
counselors are available to review individual circumstances to determine if federal
and state regulations allow financial aid adjustments to be made for loss of family
income and/or additional student related expenses.
Students who were financially impacted by this event are encouraged to visit our office
to meet with a financial aid counselor who can assess your needs. Students can also call
our office at (512) 475-6282 to schedule an appointment. Please be sure to mention you want
to see a counselor because of Hurricane Ike.
We encourage students who have not applied for financial aid to complete the online
Free Application for
Federal Student Aid as soon as possible.
For more information regarding the University's response to Hurricane Ike, please see the
September 12th
University Press Release.
In addition, Student
Emergency Services provides a number of resources to assist students and, in some cases,
their families and friends, during emergency or crisis situations.
