The application for 2010-2011 freshmen scholarships is currently available online.
Please be advised that, to be considered for scholarships, the Admissions and Freshmen
Scholarship sections must be submitted together by December 1, 2009.
Students are encouraged to search for scholarships online, in their local community,
and at their high school counselor’s office. TexasScholarships.org is a good resource
to learn more about searching for scholarships.
Apply for Financial Aid at: www.FAFSA.ed.gov
The 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting
January 1st. The priority deadline to be considered for maximum grant eligibility is
March 31, 2010. International Texas Residents should
submit a completed paper FAFSA directly
to the Office of Student Financial Services.
Tuition Promise
The University does not have a tuition promise; rather, we commit to locating the
maximum grant funding possible for each student based on their individual circumstances.
As a result, this past year the average UT Freshmen with a family income of less than
$60,000 received grant funding that exceeded total tuition and fees costs.
Financial Aid Determination
A variety of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs provide funding
options regardless of family income. Type and amount of financial aid is determined
considering the total cost of education, family financial resources, and the number
of people in the family. All students are reviewed for the maximum grant eligibility
before loans are offered. The typical financial aid package will include a combination
of awards that will meet the estimated cost of education. In
2008-2009, University of Texas students received a total of $94 million in grants and
$79 million in scholarships.
Financial Aid and Scholarship Notification
The majority of scholarship offers will be made during the months of March and April
2010. Financial Aid notifications will begin in early April 2010. Information regarding
awards will not be disclosed over the phone.
