CARES Act Emergency Funds

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocates funds to support individuals and businesses/organizations, including colleges and universities, affected by the pandemic and economic downturn. UT has received funds under the CARES Act and is working to provide emergency assistance to as many students as possible to help them meet their emergency financial needs during this challenging time.

To be eligible for CARES Act emergency assistance, a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate student
  • Have filed a 2020-21 FAFSA
  • Show financial need
  • Have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of less than $65,000
  • Have suffered a financial impact due to the COVID-19 pandemic

A student who previously received CARES Act assistance in Spring 2020 and/or Summer 2020 may also receive assistance in Fall 2020.

The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid has contacted UT students who may be eligible to receive the CARES Act emergency funds. Students must complete their application to be considered for CARES Act assistance.

CARES Act applications will be reviewed and processed by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid in line with the requirements of the CARES Act. Notification of assistance eligibility status will be emailed to students within 10 business days.

For questions related to applications, students can contact Texas One Stop at (512) 232-6988 or onestop@utexas.edu. We are here to support students and to provide the resources they need to keep their degree plan on track toward graduation.
