Support for Students Impacted by Hurricane Harvey

The University of Texas at Austin stands with our students who have been impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. The Office of Financial Aid understands that students in emergency situations may be experiencing dramatic changes to their financial status and their ability to access records and other resources.

Resources for impacted students include:

Special Circumstances Appeals

Financial aid officers are reviewing special circumstances appeals for case-by-case adjustments to students’ cost of attendance. If you would like to request a review, please complete and submit the Hurricane Harvey Special Circumstances Appeal Form. You must have completed a 2017-18 FAFSA in order to appeal for Harvey-related special circumstances. If you have not yet filed a FAFSA, please do so before submitting your special circumstances appeal form. If you need assistance, please contact us by emailing ask@finaid.utexas.edu or visiting our offices on the third floor of the Student Services Building (SSB).

Verification Assistance

If you are going through the financial aid verification process and no longer have access to financial records due to the storm, please contact our office immediately by emailing ask@finaid.utexas.edu.

Emergency Loans

The university always offers short-term $500 emergency cash loans. Learn more and apply online here.
